Strengths & Weaknesses

+ Very resistant to multiple status ailments through proper use of Rune Enchantment with Pflug and the Tenacity job trait.

+ Capable of withstanding extremely powerful magic attacks.

+ Extremely accurate fighter with Accuracy Bonus traits and an incredibly powerful job ability Swordplay that bestows up to +70 accuracy and evasion.

+ Capable of bestowing potent magic defenses upon his/her entire party through use of Valiance and One For All. Valiance in particular can bestow up to -45% magic damage taken of one specific element to the Fencer's entire party.

+ Effusion: Lunge, Effusion: Rayke and Effusion: Gambit are useful tools for exploiting a monster's elemental weaknesses.

+ Reasonably high evasion skill and an extremely high parrying skill. This becomes increasingly evident at higher levels.

+ Inspiration can grant a Fast Cast effect of up to +50% and Recast Delay of -50% respectively. While the Fencer can keep this effect on him or herself full-time it can also grant this effect to his or her party members with Valiance.

+ Despite lacking a shield this job is surprisingly difficult to kill. Battuta, when fully merited is a stunning ability that all-but renders the Fencer impervious to physical attacks. When coupled with Foil the Fencer is nigh-untouchable.

+ Has access to a handful of tools; namely Flash, Phalanx, Spikes Effect spells, and a unique spell Foil to help it 'tank'.

- Despite having access to powerful Great Sword weapon skills Rune Fencers lack the proper equipment, job abilities, and traits to produce weapon skill damage that comes close to that of heavy front line jobs.

- Has trouble maintaining enmity against targets at times, a reckless damage dealer may find themselves in trouble if care is not taken.

- Somewhat reliant on Battuta for survival while tanking. A good player will have a solid tanking set consisting of Evasion, Physical Damage Taken-%, and Enmity+ equipment on-hand for when Battuta drops and for when Swordplay is active in it's stead.

- Regen IV and Vivacious Pulse, while passable as curative tools still place the Fencer at the mercy of a competent healer.

- Whilst they are effective against monsters prone to using a lot of magic attacks Rune Fencers suffer against those that use physical attacks over magic attacks.

- It is difficult to convince the average group formed from shouts to give the job a chance in stead of a Paladin.
