Introduction

First of all: Why should you level ranger:

The job that is best with all projectile weapons.
Most accurate job.
Capable of dealing damage at a safe distance.
Capable of hitting targets out of melee's reach.
Dealing out alot of damage in a single shot and weapon skill.
All offense, no questions asked.

Now why shouldn't you level ranger:

Constant gil sink, ammo expenses.
No benefits from haste, the biggest downside.
Natural lack of defense.
All attacks, abilities and weapon skills are hit or miss.
Decreased attack and accuracy at certain distances.

Secondly, I'd like to mention that there's pun intended in the title, other guide makers, please don't take it offensively.

In this guide you can find what you need to know about this job, about it's role in the game and the usable equipment available. I'm strifing to make this guide as complete as possible, even if not every experienced Ranger agrees with me on specific points, this guide is largely based on my view on the Ranger job. There is going to be alot of wall-o-texts and alot of different sections, this guide is here for you to fall back to during your ranger carreer. If there are any suggestions, corrections or something that could be added to this guide, please make use of the discussion page first.
