When you start the game, each level 1 character will start with the RSE for their race and sex. You may also purchase the gear at vendors in the home nations for those races. These sets lack headgear, which most sets do contain.

Each week, a different magical pattern appears inside a treasure chest somewhere. Give it to Guttrix in Lower Jeuno and he'll reward you with a single piece of RSE, based upon your race and sex. For more information, see the quest The Goblin Tailor. The 27-33 RSE sets have stats designed to help "compensate" for the races' natural weaknesses in their stats. These sets are also lacking headgear, but the 4 parts of these sets can be stored at NPC armor storage.

The level requirements for this gear follow this pattern:

• Body: Level 33
• Hands: Level 27
• Legs: Level 31
• Feet: Level 29

As of the September 2025 Version Update, this equipment may now be purchased from a Curio Vendor Moogle by adventurers with Rhapsody in Umber.

Dropped from a NM spawned by touching a ??? in either the Maze of Shakhrami, Gusgen Mines or Ordelle's Caves.

You can only spawn the mob if it is your RSE week as identified by Guttrix (The Goblin Tailor), and you are in the appropriate zone for the RSE. The Aroma Crawler will spawn in the Maze of Shakhrami, the Aroma Fly will spawn in Gusgen Mines and the Aroma Leech will spawn in Ordelle's Caves. The drop is not 100%.

These belts are obtained as spoils from Comet Orb battlefields.

• HP belts may be obtained from Hostile Herbivores in Horlais Peak and 3, 2, 1... in Waughroon Shrine.
• MP stones may only be obtained in Hostile Herbivores.

These earrings may be obtained as spoils from the ENM battlefield Automaton Assault in Mine Shaft #2716.

Level 62 RSE Hand equipment comes as spoils from the Moon Orb Battlefield Demolition Squad in Qu'Bia Arena

Level 62 RSE Feet equipment comes as spoils from the Moon Orb Battlefield Brothers D'Aurphe in Qu'Bia Arena

The MP+ Ropes are spoils from the Clotho Orb Battlefield Come Into My Parlor in Qu'Bia Arena

The HP+ Sashes are spoils from the Atropos Orb Battlefield Infernal Swarm in Qu'Bia Arena

Level 87 RSE Hand equipment drops from a variety of Abyssea Notorious Monsters.

During the Strange Happenings in Vana'diel event, Kirin, Fafnir, and Alexander will spawn in Ru'Aun Gardens, The Boyahda Tree and the Alzadaal Undersea Ruins, respectively. When defeated a Treasure Chest will spawn that contains a Kirin's Mane, a Fafnir's Scale, or an Iron Giant Shard as well as a copy of Lungo's Thesis. The crafting materials and your existing pieces of RSE can be synthesized at your local Synergy Furnace at Amateur skill. Note that the names of some items have been localized inconsistently with their lower-level incarnations. Hand and Leg Armor recipes were introduced in the March 2026 Version Update. Body and Leg armor recipes were introduced in the May 2026 Version Update.
