The term grognard has a number of meanings, used generally in the context of gaming. The term is most often used to refer to those who enjoy table-top wargaming, especially the more dedicated and hardcore players, and can be extended to those of other game genres. The term is is particularly applied to those who are vocally critical of design flaws or deviations from earlier editions. The word is derived from French meaning "grumbler."
