Base potency of the spell depends exclusively on Dark Magic Skill.

• Drained amount falls within a range below a maximum amount and above 1/2 of that maximum amount, before equipment, weather and magic burst bonuses/multipliers. Drain potency is not affected by Magic Attack Bonus and "Magic critical hit+" on equipment.^[1]
