RE:
My main point was I saw the same things happening with multiple pages, which means they have a standard from which they're copying from, whether it be items or armor, etc. I'm fixing the formatting with all of these, of course, like you said, but... it's handy to leave a little reminder for additional articles that are created so that the issue is corrected. It's not personal nor a major thing, nor something to start an argument about. Just a heads up from whatever they're pasting and changing the variable information to reflect the next item, etc to get whatever template/formatting thing fixed. Like Toxic with the None10 or Eleri with using the older way of noting AH categories. I did the same thing with Dragonspight, he left a note saying Done and thanks for pointing it out and corrected everything and it was incorporated with each new armor/armor set page he created. *shrug* --User:Charitwo/Sig 11:07, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
They're probably using the Parser. It badly needs to be updated. I've been trying to make templates to ease the editing so that it won't need to be used to easily make pages by hand, but with only minor success. ~ Karuberu 18:16, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
Category:Articles for Deletion and Category:Requested Moves
I don't want to be hasty and slap some move tags on these but, shouldn't deletion and move be capitalized? Naming conventions are universal. Also, FFXIclopedia:Guide to deletion should not redirect to it's capitalized counterpart, due to the fact that search isn't case sensitive. --User:Charitwo/Sig 20:22, 6 June 2007 (CDT)

Mob infobox
I know it's a work in progress but looking at your User:Gahoo/Sandbox5 page in the Firefox browser, some of the borders are not showing up right for some reason. It works fine in Internet Explorer but for some reason Firefox isn't showing them right, if you have a way to test how they look in both browsers. I can send screenshots if you would like. --Wayka †Talk† 15:36, 8 June 2007 (CDT)
- I just checked your sandbox from recent updates, looks like the borders are now correctly displaying on both Firefox and IE at the present time. --Wayka †Talk† 03:22, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
Assault Mission Article Cleanup
I'd like to go through the assault mission articles and do a cleanup. I've noticed several problems with many of them. One example is unclear objectives. There is at least one article that doesn't actually say what you need to do in order to complete the mission. You have to figure it out from what the walkthrough is telling you to do. Another example is that assault point rewards aren't consistently displayed. The biggest problem is that the walkthroughs for many of the missions are getting cluttered with information that would probably be best put in a Notes field. The walkthroughs are turning into walls of text that are difficult to read. Let me know what you think. --Techno 19:31, 8 June 2007 (CDT)
I've designed an assault mission template. It could use a once-over by you or someone else. It's at User:Techno/Sandbox. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Specifically, the "Conditions for Victory" section might need to be reworded. Aside from "Objectives" that was the most appropriate title I could think of, but I don't like it. Unfortunately "Objective" is one of the official game terms for the mission information. The game objectives don't always adequately explain what needs to be done though. That's why there needs to be another section explaining it. Let me know what you think. --Techno 18:42, 10 June 2007 (CDT)
I made some modifications to the template. The major changes were the addition of a Strategies section and replacing the Drops and Steals fields with Strengths and Weaknesses in the monster table. Many of the assault missions have information regarding mob weaknesses, immunities, etc. I feel it belongs on the mission page as well as the mob page. On a mob page it would go in the notes section though. I had to figure out where to put it on the mission page. Please comment on it. If you like it, you can move the page to be the Assault Mission Template. I think I'm done tinkering with it, per any changes you suggest. I've gone ahead and moved Assault Mission - Leujaoam Cleansing to the template as a sample. --Techno 23:30, 11 June 2007 (CDT)
- I don't mind the change. I always thought it was a little odd to have the mission description all the way at the bottom anyway. I will point out that the reason it was there is because that's where it is on the regular mission template. If we want to make a change form the norm, I'm ok with it, but I was making an effort to make them appear more like the other mission pages.
On a related note, it seems not everyone appreciates my efforts. Someone else made an effort to clean up the walkthrough of Assault Mission - Leujaoam Cleansing yesterday before I did. They have now gone back and reverted my edits, removing the Notes and Strategies section. I won't make any changes so as to not start an edit war, but I'm not sure what to do in response. --Techno 10:11, 12 June 2007 (CDT)
- That's ok with me. I have posted on User Talk:Meara informing the user of this project and encouraging them to voice their opinion to you or I about the new template so as to avoid conflict. --Techno 10:45, 12 June 2007 (CDT)
I'm done with the clean up. I'll be proposing to move User:Techno/Sandbox to be the Assault Mission template and to delete User:Techno/Sandbox2 (which was only a non-annotated version of the template) now. --Techno 23:26, 26 June 2007 (CDT)

Hmmm. I have logged out, purged my cache, got rid of my temp files, all my cookies and its been 4 Days... CJ, Charitwo, and you have all had it happen for a small amount of time, but for some reason its happening for 4 days straight for me... Do you have any suggestions? Maybe I did something wrong... Not sure but one minute the pages had it and the next they didn't... and it hasn't come back. :( Wiki hates me. --Nynaeve 15:15, 10 June 2007 (CDT)

Pictures with an Ampersand in the name
Okay, so someone went on a userpic upload spree (all of them violating policy). I've sent him the obligatory message, but I can't delete one of his images because it has an & in the name >.<

Upload Page
While we're on the subject, can the examples be changed back to the way they were before the upgrade?:
To include the image in a page, use a link in the form , or for directly linking to the file.
This , albeit one correct way to do it, is incompliant with all the articles we have that already utilized Image: and more of a hassle to type than simple Image:, which is what all the editors are used to anyway. --User:Charitwo/Sig 07:53, 14 June 2007 (CDT)
- The point was not to have those on the page at all, (i.e. to keep people from utilizing it). We have thousands of images incorporated into articles that already utilize the old way of doing it. Now it appears cluttered and will only cause more confusion. Not to mention that all the guides and policy pages referencing images utilize the old way as well. As they say, "Don't change a working system." --User:Charitwo/Sig 08:08, 14 June 2007 (CDT)
- That appears to be the standard for the most up-to-date MediaWiki program. I can't find any documentation on it, but the ns stands for namespace. I can see no noticable difference between the two other than the newer version is more of a hassle to remember and incorporate. --User:Charitwo/Sig 08:18, 14 June 2007 (CDT)
It's just a way of noting namespaces, for more info see Wikipedia:Help:Namespace#List of namespaces. is also known as
See my Sandbox, there is no difference.
For example, with another namespace, I could type :Main Page, but it's so much easier to just type Main Page. Which is why I feel those examples on MediaWiki:Uploadtext are unnecessary. --User:Charitwo/Sig 11:15, 15 June 2007 (CDT)

Protection still necessary?
Although it does not show it in Protected Pages, the subpages for Nynaeve's WHM guide White Mage Guide by Nynaeve/Races and White Mage Guide by Nynaeve/Food are still protected. It shows in the Protection log that the main article was unprotected with no summary. It should either be all or none, while there have been three different attempts to either add unnecessary categories or changing the substance by 3 different users, I don't feel it merit's protection. --User:Charitwo/Sig 17:21, 19 June 2007 (CDT)
This was protected back when it was generally said that guides that are finished products and didn't want to have anything edited to them any longer could be protected to prevent other users from editing another users work. The protection policy has since changed and I am not averse to having it unprotected seeing as I know either myself or Charitwo since he checks the recent changes & here more often than I do would revert anything someone that is not me did to my guide.
I still think finished product guides should be protected but I am no longer an admin and I know "you" (as in general admin community) shot down CJ's opinion on this as well so what can you do. I feel there is little to no point in giving ownership to a guide by naming means if you are not going to let that one person be the one who decides what should or should not be added to it. Yes this is the wiki and being able to edit anything is the point but then why include a name of a person in the title of a guide if you aren't going respect that it is in fact that person's guide and opinions and let others place theirs in there. And if you do not want opinion than you should take out all guides seeing as everyones guide is generally based on their own opinion, right or wrong. It is difficult for one not to be seeing as they are written by one person on their experiences and views on how to do something in this game. But that is just my point of view. Doesn't have to be respected or listened to. Do what you will as y'all always do. --Nynaeve 17:44, 19 June 2007 (CDT)
To clarify, not a shot at you or your guide, but my main point was all or none. Seeing how only 3 of the 8 are protected. Although you made it clear that your guide is a finished product, it would make more sense to have them unprotected should you decide to make any changes. --User:Charitwo/Sig 17:51, 19 June 2007 (CDT)
Don't worry, I didn't think it was a shot at my guide and by no means in my guide a finished product but the pages that were protected were. Nothing more should be added to them as far as I am concerned - I am completely satisfied with the way that they are. Completed... Pssh have you see my subjob or Merits subpage - atrocious, I just work too much now and go on too many trips that I haven't had time (And sorry Gahoo for spam talk on your Talk Page). --Nynaeve 17:56, 19 June 2007 (CDT)
