Be, aggressive! B-E-A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E!

I can change all those typos, but I'll have to re-teach myself how to do it. It's not hard, just going to require 5 minutes of googling. If I don't have it done by the end of the holidays, bug me about it. Ganiman 08:02, 23 Dec 2005 (PST)

Templates

I made a guide template that you might have noticed. What you do is put {{guide}} at the top/bottom/middle of a page and it will display the contents of Template:Guide. We can make more templates like this, and they would be inserted into pages the same way. A stub template might be a good idea too, I don't know if it would work for the purpose of this wiki though. If you think of any other templates like this that could be useful, just create the template by going to Templates:My_Template and then insert it into a page by doing {{My_Template}}. Purge

Not sure if I told you this already. Here's a nice way to force a page to show you it's latest version and not display a cached version:

?action=purge

Put that at the end of any URL in the wiki. Example:

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/index.php/Main_Page?action=purge

Job History Discussion

You must be on the same wavelength as me because I was considering that as the best format (the link at the bottom of the Job page), with that history guide having 2 sections: History in the FF Series and History in FFXI. I'll get on that at some point in the future after I take a little break from this (as you can tell from the Recent Changes page, I've been pretty busy). --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 14:50, 25 February 2006 (PST)

Update Items

When you inputed the data for new items brought in by the patch, how did you do it? Did you just cut and paste from Somepage, did you download the .dat file, or what? (For example, see: Lucent Axe)

I'm trying to figure out a quick and easy way to input all the numerous items in the game without having to enter each individually. Theorhetically we could create a program that would do this automatically for us. It could take the info out of the .dat file and automatically create a Wiki page using a template we give it. But Gani hasn't taken the time to do this, and I really find the Wiki lacking without all the items.

--Mierin 07:53, 8 March 2006 (PST)

If I can find the time (I really hope I can), I will create a wiki bot that will automatically generate new pages in the wiki after an update. I can already scan the FFXI .dat files and find any changes, it's a matter of coding a bot that will properly update the wiki's database and format pages with our templates. It can certainly be done, it's just a matter of me finding the time to do it. --Ganiman 11:12, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Keep an eye on this guy

I was scrolling thru random pages looking for simple thing to edit when I came across the page for Uchigatana. When I went to edit it, there was an extremely large section of blank space followed by code and ad links. After looking at the history, I found that the last contributor, Fraseyboy (New user, and this is his only contribution), had made one minor change, and when compared to the last one, it was clear the only thing he added was the aforementioned large section of blank space, code, and links. I'm not sure what he was trying to do, and its doubtful he just copied and pasted wrong. Keep an eye on this account, something about him/her just isnt' right. --Chrisjander 13:40, 11 March 2006 (PST)

We have another one

Probably Fraseyboy made another account and started spamming again, this time it's called Butcher, and he's adding the same sort of crap Frasey was. Oh, and tell me whether you're the one I should be telling this to. --Chrisjander 17:23, 15 March 2006 (PST)

... And Another One

Vyerus. I edited the Antican page back, removing all the blank space and the hordes of links in the center. You can see their handywork (handycrap) in the History of the Antica category page. Ah yes, people who visit FFXI wiki will really be interested in online casinos and viagra. *sigh*, bastards. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 15:53, 22 March 2006 (PST)

One more for the Spam roster

User: Eldron Look at his contributions and you'll see the familiar pattern. --Chrisjander 06:07, 30 March 2006 (PST)
