XP loss
About halfway down the page here, the discussion segues into one about EXP loss post- and pre-patch. [1]
Here is a page that lists the EXP-lost calculations, but without the April 2005 changes, making it reasonable to assume it hasn't been updated since. Note that the cap is 2.4k. [2]
I could find more but I'm late for an Assault.
To Do List
- Resolve Orphaned Pages
- Finish move of Job Guides from "subjobs and race" to "how to play" and reincorporate any deleted "Strengths and Weaknesses" from original jobs pages

Good Job Mierin!! Now you are Elite!! Which direction are you taking it in now? Are you going to get plenty of buffer and swith to merits and if you switch to merits what are you going to go after first? --Nynaeve 08:36, 4 May 2006 (PDT)
Congratulations!

PUP Guide
LoL me too. But there was too much talk about what SE was doing in the December update for me to feel really safe about some of the things I wanted to add. And, as it turns out, we were right. They changed the A.I. of the Harlequin and Stormwaker frames completely as well as the functionality of the Scanner. They also added weaponskills, too. Also I have all 44 of the attachments released before the December update but none of the 4 new ones and how they work is still largely a theory. People are still getting information.
The Guide I'm working on I want to include charts on the effects of every maneuver along with the types of behaviour to expect with certain maneuver combinations. I also want to include my own personal experience with how the attachments work and not just what I read. SE has been adjusting this job alot and these passed two updates it got quite an overhaul. However, much of the PUP community is agreeing that SE has finally given us a complete job to work with and I'm going to start some serious work on my Guide as I pool together more information.
This job is so complex and one adjustment can render much of the information in a guide inaccurate. I've already seen this with a couple PUP information posts and stuff on forums and the information is just not accurate or completely invalidated.
Don't worry though, I'm hoping to have a largely completed job within the next couple weeks.
The only matter that is still complexing the PUP community is the "Throwing" skill. Throwing is our highest Combat skill but we get nothing to throw until the level 70 ALL JOBS Chakrams you can buy with Imperial Standing. However, we can throw our RSE satchets or Morion Tathlums but that would just be insane, LOL. In other words, there's nothing we can throw that's a typically expendable item other than those level 70 Chakrams. Why SE made our highest Combat Skill completely useless makes us wonder what they have in store for us and if the evolution of the PUP job may significantly impact our current understanding of it.
Thanks for the interest in my guide and I'm sorry about it taking so long but I've been largely waiting on Square Enix to give me something solid to work with. *^_^*

Lots of stuff added
I think I've added enough for any PUP getting started but there's still much to come. I want to make a small section for new puppetmasters as to "what to get right now". even though I kinda covered that in my big list of reviewing the attachments, a new puppetmaster would have to read all of that to see what he'd need to get started.
Also read my thing on Frame upgrade Prioritization. I think that part is important to any new PUP!
I'm hoping to finish the majority of the Guide's functionality in the next couple of days while I camp this stupid Noble Mold monster.

Puppetmaster Info Page
I hope you don't mind but I added the new /emote commands that were added with the December 2006 update. Those 13 commands all animate the puppet in some way. I'm not sure if I did it correctly as this is a Job page so I wasn't sure if you wanted to make any adjustements in order to keep it to your desired format. I tried to follow your example as closely as possible.

Exp loss
Despite the announcement you linked in Pririan's talk page, it was still 2400xp. It has always been capped at 2400xp loss since NA release. The only resource I can think of to prove it is to find testing done on moghancement:experience from spring 2004. --Aurikasura
check the links I posted on my talk page, referencing a 2400xp loss cap as early as 2004. --Aurikasura 16:29, 30 January 2007 (EST)
Protected Pages
If I write a guide, can I get it protected as well? Also, the only reason I mentioned it is because the White Mage guide by Nynaeve that was also protected recently had that protection removed. If anyone can write a guide and request that it be protected then I'll stand corrected, I just thought that went against the fundamentals of what a Wiki was about. Quoted from The Protected Pages category page.
Pages are protected for a number of reasons:
* Information from Square Enix which are mirrored on the FFXIclopedia are protected to ensure the integrity of the Square Enix material (protected, but not listed). * FFXIclopedia Policies, Guidelines, Templates and/or other system-wide pages. * Pages which are repeatedly vandalized. * Pages in which there is a near constant disagreement amoung community members and which would otherwise therefore be in a near constant state of flux.
This doesn't seem to fall under one of those categories, although I suppose you could argue it falls under category 2.
I also noticed you have a Leathercraft guide on your talk page. Can that page be protected as well? I know tone doesn't carry well over the internet. I'm not trying to be argumentative or difficult, but I do think that one should carefully analyze what pages are protected and why. If someone else has suggestions for helping new users get started, what should they do? Create another guide? Even if they did, they wouldn't be able to link it from the first guide because the first guide is protected. End result is that one guide has unfair visibility over any other guide. I can link her guide from my guide, but her guide will not link my guide. -- Divisortheory 20:24 21 February 2007 (EST)
---
Fair enough, my intentions were probably misstated initially. I did not plan to edit the guide in the immediate future, although I felt like I could see myself in a position someday where I felt like I had something to contribute and wanted to edit it. I'm still kind of of the opinion that virtually nothing should be protected, but I don't feel so strongly about it that I would fight for it even if it only applies to such an incredibly small class of pages (namely, guides written for a specific purpose which may contain opinions). I guess my position would be that even if it may contain opinions, if someone modifies the guide in such a way that the original creator's opinions are not accurately reflected, the original creator can always modify the guide again. And if it's that the original creator just doesn't want to see the situation where someday his name is lost and people no longer know that this was originally his work, then that problem is already solved automatically by the history feature of the wiki.
Anyway, enough rambling, no need to change it if you don't see fit, I was just looking for your position on the matter. -- Divisortheory 10:55 22 February 2007 (EST)
