This quest will only appear in the quest logVerification Needed for the person that uses Pest Repellent. The quest does not appear in completed quest log upon completion of the battlefield.

Walkthrough

  • Objective: defeat a neverending swarm of enemies.
  • Each monster that is defeated awards points, and the total amount of points is displayed as a score at the end of the battle. In addition to the final tally, the number of points each individual scored is also revealed.
  • The battle takes place in the Ruhotz Silvermines and can be entered through the gate in Rolanberry Fields (S)
  • Only one person requires the Pest Repellent, but the party must have at least 3 members. To enter, have the party leader use the Pest Repellent and then inspect the entrance.
  • 5 minute time limit
  • Monsters rain down from the sky above, and once they reach the bottom they travel toward the area boundary and disapear.
  • Note: all enemies are named Swarmspawn in this battle, but they spawn as a variety of different monster families.
  • Different types of monsters award different amounts of points:
    • Adamantoises have high defense and are worth many points
    • Bombs award medium points but may self destruct
    • Slimes award average points but provide a bonus to nearby players
    • Lycopodiums drop temporary items but have a special attack
    • Beetles have slow movement and average points
    • Goblins award average points but also drop bombs
    • Defeat Pixies to enable fever mode
      • Chain multiplier can provide up to 1.5x multiplier
  • Enemies have really low HP so area attacks work well. A "-ga III" from a BLM may kill multiple enemies at once easily.

Additional Rules

  • All beneficial magic is removed upon entry.
  • Protect and Shell are cast upon the player upon entering.
  • Enemies don't link, aren't aggressive, and are immune to Sleep.
  • Use the item Bottled Fay to exit; however, you cannot return.
  • Only the leader is granted a Bottled Fay.
