it's worth noteing that you gain 1 ebon light for every kill regardless of type, 15 peral if you kill with a normal melee hit, and 8 ruby or amber. just something random i noticed trying to turn my clear into colorfull. --DK 19:56, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

Post on BG (http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/95712-Missing-Unknown-and-Unsolved?p=4041484&viewfull=1#post4041484) showing the drop with pic (although it's in Japanese) and the VNM/Abyssea page shows Usurper with this info. --Trickster Philosophy 02:44, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

Has there been confirmation pictures on any of these drops?

Testimonials

was able to get him down to 40% twice with rdm/nin and blm/nin kiting around the nearest rocks. first time we got it to 40% and Iratham ran in and killed us. second time we got it to 40% and some pld pulled Iratham and Minhocao on top of us and died... so they killed us. I have no doubt you can duo this if nms stay out of the way lol. --Crebont 09:22, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Very easy low man fight NM was almost a complete joke. The only thing that even posed the remote chance of a threat was his Throatstab move that puts you to low HP and resets hate, perhaps it was brain spike or something to that degree. Did not do any particular stagger but did manage to get full item drops. Setup was Cor Mnk Rdm Rdm Whm Brd Rdms kinda sat in back throwing nukes Mnk straight tanked it and Whm and Brd assisted with Curing. Keeping in mind however this group did have access to Atmas most normal groups do not have so please be weary of attempting without actual experience with abyssean NMs --Setsumi 13:41, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

By 90, this NM isn't very hard by any stretch of the imagination. On THF, I could tank this NM in my sleep... all except for Impalement, which oneshotted me. My MNK partner was also eventually oneshotted, but managed to counter/guard 3 Impalements. This NM has horrible accuracy, making it easy fodder for evasion/blink tanks. You just need a plan B for when you're eating dirt after its bs Impalement move. If you can find a BRD for Mambo and Scherzo, you can absolutely destroy this NM. --Eremes 07:51, December 23, 2010 (UTC)

Failed to solo this 3 times now as THF/NIN90 with a full evasion build, I always get it very close to death by kiting it around terrain during Blood Weapon, but when it gets to around 10% or lower, it uses Impalement and it ALWAYS connects for 2.5k or more, wiping me instantly, it's getting to be rather annoying... also tried a duo with NIN + THF (me) and the same thing happened, at 7% it Impaled me for 2.6k again, then the NIN took it down to 1% and he got hit with it too for 2.3k... my assumption is that either, its accuracy, or Impalement's accuracy as a whole improves as it dies, can't be sure about it but it seems to be that way... I would definitely recommend a tank with some form of Physical damage migation. (E.g DNC using Fan Dance) --Xynthios 21:30, December 27, 2010 (UTC)

  • Did the NIN use Migawari: Ichi? In theory, it should prevent Impalement from killing you. --Eremes 04:55, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

I tanked this thing several times until it finally dropped my kitty pants. Fan Dance works wonders, Impalement was never an issue. --User:Asymptotic

Update: Successful solo (well duo kinda) as THF/NIN (Atma of the Razed Ruins and Atma of the Ascending One), used full evasion set with a COR friend, COR kept Ninja Roll and Tactician's Roll on me the whole fight, to avoid Impalement I tanked it while kiting, even though it had movement speed I was able to get enough distance to completely negate Impalement as it is melee range (2-3 yalms), used Flee when it Blood Weaponed, when it was available and kited it around the cactus plants near the Jaguarundi, this was quite an effective kiting ground as its pathing is fairly poor. Procced blue !! at about 87% with Evisceration so I couldn't use it anymore, thus the fight was extremely long as I had to use Dancing Edge instead, near 40% or so, the COR took hate somehow but I believe it to be a hate reset from Blood Weapon and it killed him, this happened 3 more times straight after Blood Weapon after he HP'ed and came back while I held it and finally, at 8% I was able to make it use Impalement again while being out of range and finished its last HP off, got full drops... long fight because of the restriction on Evisceration... took 56 minutes total. PS: It ALWAYS uses 2 moves back to back when it uses Impalement it seems, always had it use any of its other moves right after it, including Murk, Material Fend, Brain Spike and Carousel. --Xynthios 01:07, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

Easy solo by 90DNC/NIN. With 515 EVA the mob hardly ever hit but kept up Fan Dance in case of Brume (wipes shadows) followed by impalement. Just straight tanked it, used WS whenever available. Seems as if the thf/cor trousers drop significantly more than Ocelot. Natica 15:26, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

BST90/DNC45 solo. Atma: MC/DG/RR. 2 -pdt axes and Anwig Salade with -10% pdt. Pet: Dipper Yuly. This is a pretty tough solo, tho the first 75%ish health is easy. When he starts resetting hate and coming after you is when things get very sticky. I recommend 2 stacks of pet food to be safe, but I only had to use 10 zetas. Make sure to stock up on temporary items that heal you, like lucid potions. When he resets hate, he will come after you and every time he did that he had me down to ~200 health. Dipper will get hate back and you can run away and heal yourself. I found also (this will need more testing), that when I used Ready is when he would come after me, but other actions like healing my pet didn't provoke his hate reset. Also, do not melee with your pet! (Obviously) -Odeken of Pheonix

Just tried this today aswell as 99Bst/Nin Have to say that /nin is the way to go to assure you dont get hit, just keep shadows up and if your pet DOES lose hate then use use Snarl to get it straight back onto your pet. Nothing special to note about this NM really, Used Ducal Guard / Mounted Champion / Razed Ruins and only used 3 pet food eta's the whole fight. Pet used was FaithfulFalcor :) Good luck to all beasts out there after the pants etc. -Kupofried or Siren

Hate Reset on Blood Weapon?

Killed this NM several times and hate resets (when they happened, it's definitely not 100%) followed Impalement. I've kited Blood Weapon countless times while WHM and/or MNK are weakened (and have generated some kind of hate) and I never lost its attention (even when it would use Blood Weapon AGAIN while I was kiting it). I've also eva tanked it during Blood Weapon. I only kite it when I have no plan B for Triple Attack Shadow Wipe -> Impalement. --Eremes 04:03, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

Thing is... it never even landed Impalement... once. I always was out of range of it, but when it used Mighty Strikes it would immediately go for my friend... dunno what that means but... it just seems from observation and common sense that Mighty Strikes may have been the cause, similar to Ruminator. *shrug* --Xynthios 09:10, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe it's possible the hate reset occurs even if the TP move doesn't land or connect? It's possible that any of its JA/TP can reset hate, I've just never seen Blood Weapon do it. --Eremes 23:19, December 29, 2010 (UTC)

Blood Weapon definitely isn't used every 3 minutes... more like 2-3. >.>

I highly disagree about it using Blood Weapon every 3 minutes, from my experience it's every two or three from when I killed it about an hour ago, maybe they have changed the frequency of use... not sure but it's definitely not just 3 anymore, gonna update the page but feel free to change it if it's not true~ --Xynthios 01:30, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

Was a ballpark estimate. More importantly, it's not HP-based. --Eremes 04:03, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

I know it's not HP based, it's definitely time-based, just it's not 3 minute's... I think i even counted a 1:35 gap between them at one point, using Flee recast timer, just saying. --Xynthios 08:22, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

According to my logs, our last Usurper took almost exactly 10 minutes, and it Blood Weapon'd 5 times, putting it at an average of 2 minutes per Blood Weapon. Time always moves slower when you're on White Mage. :p --Eremes 08:31, February 8, 2011 (UTC)

Drop rates

After the 5/9/11 update some friends and I killed this 14 times. We did not proc yellow on any of them. The only time we did not get a coin of balance drop was when our 3 pairs of ocelet trousers dropped. From our observations it appears as though the coin is 100% drop except when the trousers drop. Dunno if it's just a coincidence, or a glitch, or whatever.--Sevynwarr 03:56, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

--Hyuudo 07:07, January 13, 2011 (UTC) Just fought this bitch with blue and yellow proc'd and TH7 on it. Everything but Ocelot Trousers dropped. -_-

It happens. --Eremes 08:21, February 8, 2011 (UTC)

coins are not 100% just kill this & only got the Hako Hachimaki & Entois Trousers with blue proc.

Impalement

Tested the Damage Taken gear theory and confirmed that it does not protect from 100%+ damage Impalement, nor does Sentinel's Scherzo. The best way to avoid this attack is to simply dodge it. A MNK using GH atma and 1 Mambo was able to dodge Impalement 3 times wearing no evasion gear. That being said, it's still highly recommended to pile on evasion. --Eremes 08:25, February 8, 2011 (UTC)

I just did this dual boxing my 90nin/dnc with my wife's 90whm/blm and a 90mnk/nin for blue proc. I used protect V and haste buffs only from whm, no damage mitigation atma's and put on migawari: ichi at about 50%. It used Impalement on me and it did 0 damage and took away migawari so I can confirm migawari works on this nm. :D --Daemonarch
