The original Japanese for this weapon skill is: 十之太刀・乱鴉 (juu no tachi: ran'a). Ran'a is pronounced ra-n-a (らんあ), not ra-na (らな).
Ran (乱) means "riot," "war," and "disorder."
Karasu (鴉) means "crow." Put together, 乱鴉 is read as ran'a.
Ran'a would mean "disordered/chaotic flying crows," or "scattering crows." The overall imagery and poetic meaning of the name ties in directly with its Mythic Weapon, Kogarasumaru. The character for crow is also used in the name, with Kogarasumaru literally meaning "little crow." Furthermore, it ties in to real-world legend: the Kogarasumaru was dropped by a giant Yatagarasu divine crow (八咫烏) from Ise Shrine to Emperor Kanmu. it was used by Taira no Sadamori to quell the Masakado Rebellion (939 CE chaotic uprising).
The translated name is "Tenth Style of the Tachi: Chaotic Flying Crows."[1]
