The shigeto was a Japanese wrapped bow used in combat. The bow was wrapped in rattan (a genus of palms used as source material for canes, wicker furniture, known for its durability and flexibility) and coated with lacquer. The wrapping is intended to provide flexibility and prevent splitting.
