Rumors from the West

• Optional: Go to Northern San d'Oria, Bastok Markets or Windurst Woods to trigger a cutscene about pioneering in Adoulin.
  • The optional cutscenes can all be viewed from the following bards regardless of whether or not you received them:
    • Northern San d'Oria: Durogg (J-10)
    • Bastok Markets: Lamepaue (I-8)
    • Windurst Woods: Sevah Kummekihn (J-10) -- cutscene with Soni-Muni and Gottah Maporushanoh
• Talk to Darcia (Lower Jeuno (H-7) inside Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and choose the option "I would like to apply" to begin the next mission.

If you did not start this mission prior to the July 2023 Version Update you are given a choice to skip the opening cutscene. If you do, you must interact with the Tales' Beginning at any of the following locations to progress this mission line:

• Northern San d'Oria (J-10)
• Bastok Markets (I-8)
• Windurst Woods (J-10)

Mission Orders

Word around the Middle Lands is that a pioneering initiative has begun in the land of the setting sun. The Jeuno Chamber of Commerce and Industry is looking for potential pioneers to assist in the projects. They have prepared a test of skill.

Note: If you have chosen to skip the opening cutscene and have meanwhile completed the Rhapsodies of Vana'diel mission The River Runs Red, this mission is automatically marked as complete, and therefore you will not receive this cutscene, and would not be able to (or need to) interact with the Tales' Beginning. Skip directly to the next mission. If you wish to view this cutscene, speak to one of the bards mentioned above. .
