Blade of Darkness

1. {Bastok Mines J-7}Speak with Gumbah until he gives you the cutscene that starts this quest.
   • upper floor, across the bridge, toward the Alchemy Guild.
     
   • Make sure you check your quest log before heading to Palborough Mines.
   • The quest Great Sword Weaponskill quest Inheritance (Ground Strike) seems to take priority over this quest, so it is important to make sure to get the correct cutscene/dialogue from Gumbah.
2. {Palborough Mines H-8 Map 3} Pull the boat lever on the 3rd floor to ride it.
   • Fastest way is via the Palborough Mines Home Point #1 at (H-10).
   • Otherwise, Port Bastok > North Gustaberg (K-3) > Palborough > Head to the third floor.
     • If you have the map for Palborough Mines, the third floor has a giant burn hole in the center.
   • The boat is very close once you go up the elevator.
   • This boat also takes you to Zeruhn Mines (safe zone connected to Bastok Mines).
     • WARNING: Ensure you have inventory space BEFORE boarding the boat or you will need run back to this location again.
3. {Zeruhn Mines} Receive a cutscene and the Chaosbringer
   • Lv1 Great Sword for Warriors, Dark Knights, and Rune Fencers.
   • Anyone can pull the lever; you need only make the trip.
   • If you drop the Chaosbringer, you may take the ferry in the Palborough Mines once more to receive another.
4. Using the Chaosbringer, kill 100 enemies.
   • It doesn't matter what you kill, as long as the sword is equipped and deals the final blow with a standard/critical melee strike.
   • Killing with weapon skills, abilities (such as Jump), and monster suicides do not count.
     • monster suicides: Goblins' Bomb Toss, Bombs' Self-Destruct, and Bees' Final Sting)
   • The enemy does not have to give experience points for it to count toward the 100 total.
   • The methods used to damage the monsters are irrelevant. Suggestions to kill monsters faster. However, the killing blow must be made with Chaosbringer:
     • Sub BLM and use Black Magic.
     • Use a ranged weapon.
   • Nothing resets the kill count (other than dropping the blade); you may change areas, jobs, weapons, get K.O.'d, etc.
   • Optional: Get another 100 kills needed for the quest Blade of Death before going to turn in the Chaosbringer for this quest.
     • Reward: Deathbringer (Lv5 DRK Greatsword).
     • Just keep count and make sure you get 200 kills by the stipulations noted above.
   • Special events that may help:
     • Harvest Festival events in real-life October: Wraith Bats spawn outside the starter nations with only 1 HP.
     • Records of Eminence quest: "Area Kills" is helpful for keeping count.
5. {Pashhow Marshlands L-11} Zone into Beadeaux with the Chaosbringer for a cutscene to unlock Dark Knight.
   • You can travel to Beadeaux as ANY job, not just Warrior or Rune Fencer or Paladin. The blade does not have to be equipped; it must simply be in your inventory.
   • The Marshlands can be reached from either top-right of Konschtat Highlands or bottom of Rolanberry Fields.
   • You can also get the cutscene by warping to the Survival Guide.
